The Story of the Great Sale
As many of you know, The Mexican Shack has gone through many changes since 1975. At that time, I was in my twenties and was discovering decorative pottery, wooden and wicker furniture and hand-made jewelry from the Southwest. I drove these treasures across the country and displayed them along the roadside of Route 100 in Somers, NY. There were times during that 3,000 mile journey where some of the items in the truck would get nicked or scratched. As a result, we would shelve these items until ultimately, the shelf turned into an entire room! At that point, we decided to have a massive warehouse sale. The turnout was unlike anything we could have ever imagined! We continued this sale as a yearly tradition over the following four decades and would draw crowds from New York City to Pennsylvania. Although today you won’t find “shelved items,” what you will find is extraordinary jewelry marked down for this exciting, once-a-year event.
